I bought a giant plotter.

I bought a new toy. Specifically - I bought an insanely massive and very heavy, A1-sized, Roland DPX-3300 XY plotter from the 1980's. It is now sitting in my office taking up all the space until I sort some studio space out, and I'm very happy with it.

Anyway, I have big plans (creatively and physically) for it, and I've already discovered a few neat things, so I thought I'd jam a post together with some photos and musings.

The most important part for now is... it works:

FAULT LINES - I'm in.

So, the secret is out - I've been selected as one of the seven participating artists on FutureEverything's new FAULT LINES programme. It's been a weird (and towards the end quite intense) few weeks, with a lot to think about, and so I though it might be wise to get my thoughts down.

PARADOXPARADOX - Day 5.

It's over. We did it!

PARADOXPARADOX - Day 4.

We changed things a little on the fourth day of PARADOXPARADOX.

PARADOXPARADOX - Day 3.

There was a day two of PARADOXPARADOX, but I never made it in. My son ended up being kept in at the hospital for observation after a mild asthma attack - he's totally fine, and by all accounts was bored for most of it, but obviously that stuff came up higher in the priority list than art, so I dropped out for the day.

I was back for day three though, and it was a weird one, and very different to the first.

PARADOXPARADOX - Day 1.

I've just got back home from the first day of PARADOXPARADOX, and thought I should get this down quickly while it's all still in my head.

(preface: I had to leave a tiny bit early, and before that spent the last hour or two quite distracted, due to my three year old being unexpectedly ill. My wife is, at the time of writing this, at the hospital with him. Some sort of mild asthma attack or similar, we're not sure yet, but he's doing okay now and they'll be home soon hopefully.)

This will be mostly pictures as I'm profoundly fucking exhausted, but: so far, it's been very intense and surprisingly challenging. Uncomfortable in places, highly satisfying in others.

PARADOXPARADOX - Day 0.

I've been lucky enough to be selected as one of the eight participating artists on Protovoulia's PARADOXPARADOX residency/workshop, at HOME. It starts tomorrow, and I'm excited and nervous in equal measure.

My intention is to try and document my journey through the process as much as I can, which is why I'm trying to get my thoughts down before it starts tomorrow. I think it'll be interesting to look back at this post and see if the outcomes of my venture into the unknown match my preconceptions.
